Do Without: The Coffee Fast, Week 4

It has been 28 days since my last sip of coffee. That is a long time for this coffee-lovin’ girl to go without her favorite beverage. I was really hoping that by the end of this Midnight Maniac inspired fast, I’d be able to have a causal relationship with coffee, but so far, I still WANT to drink it every day – I just don’t because I vowed not to.  At the beginning of the fast I turned to Yogi Goji berry green tea to get me through, and while I am enjoying the tea, I snarl at the cheerful quotes (on the teabags) that I once found inspirational. I actually scolded my tea one morning last week for not being coffee!

Enough of the negative stuff: I have lost almost 5 pounds since I started the fast! I’m not sure if there is a connection, but I’d be willing to bet there is. For one thing, coffee does make my blood sugar a bit wacky, and I think I eat more often when that happens. Also, I tend to want a yummy baked good to go with my afternoon coffee, so I’ve cut those out completely. I think I’ll focus on the weight loss to get me through the next 17 days!
